Hey management consultant - I was in a bad work environment and knew it right away it wasn’t a skill set/ environment fit. I worked like a slave to make it work for 7 months. I was terminated. Venture capital firm fired me and the CEO To clean house. It’s ok. Learn from your failures but let them go. There’s thousands of companies in this country. You will find your right fit. Let go of the failures and forgive yourself

Let go of failures and forgive yourself is amazing advice. Thank you!

Get some therapy/counseling to help you cope. Your situation isn't as simple as "just find a new job" and will take years to recover from. I was an ivy degree who felt on top of the world then switched firms and got counseled out, and professional help was necessary and helpful.

One part of this is recognising that your path was never going to be linear, and it’s not a race. There are plenty of thing you can learn from you experience, although I am sorry you or anyone has to live in an abusive work relationship. The second thing to recognise is that you don’t owe your company anything. Leave if you’re not learning and growing. It doesn’t matter if you job hop a little to find the right team - in the long run, it won’t even matter.

In addition to what other said (especially D2), I want to add - you should talk to someone who knows you or your work closely. Also, have a regular touch point with your lead. Pay close attention to what they say, take notes and review. Once the remote work ends, you should be able to connect with the people, just hang in there for few more months.

OP consider changing your perspective at work. Instead of investing yourself into it (your energy, emotions, aspirations) treat it as a task to be done and when the day is over forget about it completely. Perform the function of your job but be detached from the outcome so your work performance loosens its emotional grip on you. This will free your energy and allow you to make the right decisions for you without the corporate environment dictating your self worth. Weirdly enough, when I stopped caring at all, my results improved markedly with far less burnout.

I guess I am a little embarrassed about having to start over. Part of my mind is fixated on sunk costs. I suppose acceptance is the first step and forgiveness. Learned everything from college but that.

You were fired for "unprofessional behavior"?

Took 2 days PTO/ sick days after pulling long shifts. The project was over and I wanted some break. I was tired. The response to this wasn’t the best.

Today I had a 4th round interview and gave a 10 min presentation for a position I really want. I honestly love everything about this position and is my dream job. I thought it went really well & she seemed very positive. She said she would follow up with the ceo (who I already met with) and let me know about next steps. I was originally told there would be 5 rounds and with every other round I’ve known next steps before I left the interview. This time I had to wait. Is this a good or a bad sign?

Recruiter reached out saying I will be receiving an offer and wanted to get my comp expectation. I gave a reasonable expectation based on level of the role. Recruiter said that’s too high. I politely mentioned that I’m happy to work with what the comp team gets back with as I really like the role. They said they will submit my paperwork by end of the day. That was Tuesday. Haven’t heard back since. Does it take this long or they slotted someone else for the role during this timeframe?

Got offered a SAP analyst role at Deloitte. Currently I am working at Spirit In the accounting department. I work less than 40 hours in week and make 57K. Work life balance is ELITE at spirit. How many hours will I be working over at Deloitte? Should I leave my current company for Deloitte if they offer 70k?

Just sad bc we’ve been looking for two years and this was the perfect place.
