Hi fishers! I have offer and signed contract with Deloitte UK and my start day is in the beginning of April. I need skilled worker visa, and we haven’t applied yet for that. Screening and onboarding is in progress. Immigration team doesn’t reply since reached me out 1st time. How much time does it usually needed to go through the whole process? How many days take for visa to be approved since application?Deloitte

OP: one more thing, if you have a valid US visa stamped on your passport you are also allowed to exit the airport for a few hours as long as you have an onward flight in a few hours - I had a 9 hour connection and went into the city to catch with friends. It's at the discretion of the immigration officer but it's worked for me multiple times. No additional visa needed. Now, if you are going home to get your visa stamped, and don't have one already on your passport, than you are not allowed to transit in Heathrow without a transit visa.
Not too long ago that Heathrow has some weird rules; any knowledge you guys have about this will be appreciated! I'm planning on booking my flights today. Thanks, FB fam ❤️
Not if you don't plan to exit the airport. You don't need a transit visa if you are just switching flights at Heathrow and won't be venturing into the city. I've flown via Heathrow many times and it's not a problem. For Canada, I know you need a visa.
I don't think so, as long as you don't plan to exit the airport
Thanks I1! Just to clarify, do you have an Indian passport?
It's not required as long as you have a valid US visa and aren't the exiting the airport (can't go from heathrow to gatwick). I have a US visa and fly through London all the time and haven't needed it once. And yes my passport is the desi blue
You guys are the best, thanks fam! Last question - is a layover of 1.5 hours at Heathrow sufficient, in your opinion (given that you have flown through there multiple times)?
That's tight and only should be considered for a T5-T5 connection. If you're changing terminals, 2.5+ hours is advisable.
If it's your first time making the change and you're traveling in December or high traffic holiday season, you need 2 hours at least. I've made connections in less than an hour easily but I would definitely not recommend it to those who don't have fastrrack security and need to switch terminals and haven't done heathrow before.
@OP : Yep I have an Indian passport :)
@OP: And the most tight connection I had 2.5 hours since I had to switch terminals and my flight was delayed (which happens very often) so you don't want to take a risk with 1.5 hours. Try to get something more than 2 hours and it should be manageable.
No Op
I can confirm OP, my brother didn't had UK visa and he had a connecting flight to US from Heathrow, he had an Indian passport.
