…….That HR will have your back as a (hard-working) employee. I learned the hard way! The reality is- they protect the company and protect bullies. They don’t give a $h!t about employees. Stay under their Radar as much as possible. If you’re facing workplace-related issues, it’s best to seek legal advice from an Employment Lawyer. 😑
If HR Professionals were so great, so much research and statistical data would not scream otherwise. Topics like this would not exist. With all due respect, Cry me a River and play your Violin!! 🎻🎻🎻

We’re only here for the business or only care about the business.
We often care deeply about employees and employee experience - remember, we are employees too.
But we often have to wear the decision making of executives and leadership - whether we agree with it or not. It’s like your sibling blaming you for breaking something when they did it 😂
That everyone in the role is qualified to be there.
Rising Star
The biggest misconception is that HR has any power over anyone in line leadership. "HR fired me" is nonsense. Their MANAGER fired them. HR may have reviewed the plan to terminate, but we have ZERO power to force someone to fire or even not to fire.
That HR is diverse.
The field has lots of diversity with gender and race and color and even sexual orientation but virtually no diversity with socioeconomic status. Most people in HR come from middle class or above. Very few of them know what it's like to truly live paycheck to paycheck, to go to a shelter, or to live without a home or basic utilities. They manage all employee benefits and payroll but most don't know how truly important these things are.
