Folks - I received an offer from PwC for a lateral move to SC. I am up for promotion this year at D and most likely would make it to M. PwC initially interviewed for a M... (cont)

Wait until M promotion to jump. You'll wait another year or more at staff level to move up.

like

Stick it out for promo. Then jump.

like

I'm fine and have been in your position. But do you realize you've answered every point we've made with you're going to make the jump anyway?

like

Never trust the "let's get you settled in for a year". It's a fucking lie - you'll have to fight really hard from the start to get it, and you'll have to start from scratch. If that's worth the money, do it, but it's a lie and they know it. Happened to me and many others before you.

like

Chill dude! There is nothing to brag about here. I just wanted to get some thoughts from people who have been around for a while.

like

PwC will deliberately bring you in at a lower level. They're pay brackets are also set so the pay bump will only bring you up to their standards. Don't let them screw you. Get the promo and then male moves. Source: former PwC employee

like

Unfortunately, the partners you interviewed with won't guarantee that year timeframe to move-up. So you'll be taking a lateral with more pay to spend more time at SC. Nothing will be out in writing that guarantees only a year. So what happens when it becomes another two years?

like

OP - working as Manager/ Senior Associate wanting to be a manager in SC will be pretty similar if not worse than D in terms of culture/ intensity. So if the move is purely money driven, go for it

like

This is a dumb post. Plainly, it's not a smart call to forego a 20% pay raise for another year at SC at a different firm. There's no way around that

like

I've seen them bring in at least 3 people at SC who were/should have been M with the "get settled for a year and then we'll move you up". They almost never get moved up. You Coke in with little to no network, don't the systems, methodology, etc. Competing for promo against people who get screwed over last year. If it's all about the money, go for it (but know you'll get a relatively smaller raise next year). But if you care about title, stay where you are.

like

But the partners I interviewed with feel that I should spend another year as SC, get myself comfortable with the firm and people and then move up else I might not be able to justify the position and would not do any good to me in the future.

P.S. I was referred by a partner and things have been going that good at D for almost a month now

like

Then what's the point of this post? To simply brag that you're making a lateral move as a senior?

like

I want to but just wanted an extra push to do or not to. Won't deny I am tending towards making the move. But also thinking if it's going to be a stupid move. Trust me looking for help not bragging

like

Definitely get to manager and then make the move. You never know what happens after you move. You may not get promoted for 2 years after!

like

Just come to PwC. We're better than Deloitte and everyone knows it!

like

@d1 and @C1 that would actually be tricky because I'll have to take a lower position in that case if I decide to move to Pwc. I am getting a 20% bump ( yet to negotiate )

@D1 that's a chance I gotta take. I have been with the firm for 5 years and every day is worst than previous. My concern is they wouldn't give me a lateral move when I am a M at Deloitte and survival is going to be a pain for next year. I wanted to make a lateral move and spend a year and enjoy the monetary benefits of a first year manager at D.

Wait, SC as in Senior Consultant or Strategy Consulting? Very different things

My SC to M bump at D wasn't that great. Don't get disappointed.

You are wasting our time.. Looks like you have already made a decision..

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Hello!

I joined Accenture 5 months back as a lateral hire ( Level 11 ) and have been a part of a project since day one.

I am not enjoying my work here, no motivation at all. Dreaded to report to work and having stress and anxiety. My manager is trying to micromanage me as productivity is on the lower side.

Another thing is, I have started to dislike my current tech and no more interested in it.
What are my options here ?
Is project release possible ?
or I have to put down papers ?
