To those in Canada - Our company is bracing for recession. Question is, if we rescind an offer, do we have to pay any compensation to the candidate? The candidate responded about the need to pay him because we rescinded close to his supposed start date.

I have a 5.3y work ex with ACN, as a FSCM consultant (L10 currently, was assured of a L9 effective March, but declined due to growing poor culture within ACN).
Got an offer from PwC India
Current TC: 9.5 LPA.
PwC Offered TC: 19 LPA.
IBM Offered Fixed: 17 LPA
IBM would be a smooth drive, but skeptical to join PwC given the WLB issues, as a lot of folks say.

13 yr outside Sales Experience in the B2B space, multiple roles/companies. Current quota is $15MCAD, I usually do not bad in quota but lately has shifted to rewarding medicorciy and "pooling" some numbers countrywide which i really dont like.
Current comp is $85k Base and $115 OTE with a ceiling of $150k CAD/$120k US. Feel it's too little for my experience and they are taking perks away by the day.

What should I know about contracting? My agency has decided to close after we couldn’t keep up with Covid etc. I lost my full time position there. They’ve said they would use me as a contractor to continue on the accounts i’m on (mostly just 2h/month doing social copy) BUT i’ve also interviewed with another company and they said it would be contract work. All I know about contracting is that you’ll either have a W-2 or 1099 and you set your own rate (which i have done). What else should I know?
