For people who left Public accounting to Industry, how happy are you (WLB/Comp)? I’m at about 9 yrs exp now, hopped to IA, B4 Fed tax. Currently an S3 in audit at midsize, but no CPA. This year was my 6th busy season. Gonna pass FAR/REG this year. But I’m hoping to get out of PA, and go for senior accountant in industry and move up to Controller for the rest of my days. I’ve thought about trying FDD but I’m getting sick of the client grind and would rather just make $ playing poker/ side hustle.

Considering taking a position with a small-cap in the US trying to build their legal department. The title is standard “counsel” although the work would be with the senior leadership team and reporting to the GC in Europe. How reasonable is it to ask for a bump in title - Senior counsel or Head of Legal, US? If it matters, I am a 6th year and have been told that I will be expected to hire a junior or paralegal as we build up.

Left b4 consulting for f500 industry (pharma). Much of what was promised was blatantly false or hasn’t panned out. However, the pay (around 300k) and WLB are real. And work is somewhat interesting - just isn’t what i signed up for, moves at a glacial pace and i have doubts about the potential of much of what my team is doing.

Am i crazy for considering returning to consulting like MBB in an M level role? In low 30s now and we have a very young child. Please roast me if i need to hear it. TIA!

Big4 has clear trajectory and interesting work.

I am contemplating a move to industry working at a VC, Tax Director role east coast. Looks like it will be primarily overseeing compliance with some aspect of advising on structures etc. There is another tax reporting head above me.

The potential comp is the low 200k with a 10% bonus (still higher than what I am making). I feel this is pretty low for VC standards but maybe my standards are also too high. I have generally seen 25% bonus with carry.

Any thoughts?
