For those at firms other than PwC, do you guys feel ready to be promoted to senior after only 2 years? I’m a third year at PwC up for promotion but I still don’t know if I feel ready. Just curious

You aren’t ever going to be ready. Be bold and brave and do your best. Experience is the best teacher. Take the money, work hard, and don’t overthink it. You’ll be fine

like

Yes, it is the norm at the other big four to be promoted after 2 years, so as a second year, there is a big push for second years to strive to be an acting senior with respect to helping coach first years and interns.

like

Yeah, they give you “senior” tasks leading up to promotion already. I was always under the impression that at PwC a third year associate essentially has senior roles in comparison to the other big four just not the title. Correct me if I’m wrong

like

I am a staff 2 and feel ready to be senior. I think a lot has to do with who you work with. I basically work with only senior managers so the learning curve is pretty fast but they teach me a lot of technical items. Honestly organization and time management is the biggest skills seniors need, at least according to my managers and up.

like

Agree with both BDO 1 and PwC 1. The title change doesn’t automatically make you a capable senior, it will come with time and experience.

like

Nobody is ready for promotion. It's a sink or swim culture at big 4 and you will find out if you are ready after your first in charge engagement.

like

Honestly, yeah. I’ve felt ready for a while.. a little after 1.5 years I was ready to start taking on senior responsibilities and by 2 years I was fully ready

like

about how others feel after 2 years?

You would hope so.

Yeah as a third year, you’re in the acting senior role. But I was curious if you guys still feel ready to be a full senior after only two years?

@KPMG1 you are correct. There is no magic switch that is flipped when your title changes. Third year at Pwc is equivalent to S1 elsewhere. What EY1 said is no different than what I expect out of my second years

I’m a Staff 2 with about 6 months till promotion. I’m about to be assigned to my first senior role (the client asked for seniors but SM and client thought I was a good fit). I feel ready for the role, like EY 2 I’ve worked with mostly SMs or Ms

Regardless of the firm you are in the expectations of a third-year auditor are very similar. At non-PwC firms they just give you the title a year earlier, it doesn’t mean your responsibilities are more than they would be at PwC.

Thanks for all of your replies. I really appreciate it.

Hi Everyone,
I need your views and suggestions. I have two doubts:
1. Is it fair to leave an organisation (big brand) after a year as the environment is real toxic and there’s no career growth as well in terms of good work.
2. If I have to make a switch do I really have to target big brands only or can try for medium and small size companies too.

Has anyone found a way to automate salary certifications?

We get about 3-5 requests daily to fill out salary certifications for our employees in EMEA.

At the moment, we have to do all of them manually. We open a pdf, then open their employee file and plug away. It's tedious and time-consuming, but the banks I found won't accept an internal salary certification for some reason. They're adamant about using their form. Has anyone come across this?

Anyone who has/ heard of fbookers who successfully switched roles and gotten a promotion (L3 to L4)?

Context I am planning a switch from analyst to data scientist from a non US location to US. However, L4 is needed for this jump (prob due to visa issues). With the current revamp in PSC cycle, I am not sure if I can successfully get promoted by next year and make the jump. To do so, I heard there needs to be 2 EE (for this half and next half).
