I am Fully vaccinated but if I declare that I am partially vaccinated will they get to know my bluff? Are you talking about going back to residency or switching to a non-clinical career? I ask because it’s notoriously difficult to change specialties, apart from the 3-5 years of time and money difference between being a resident and an attending. As an EM physician you would have a lot of non-clinical opportunities, from pharma to informatics to hospital administration.
You could always supervise manage mid-levels at an urgent care center and take a break from patient care. You’ll take a large cut of their collections and you’ll do less work. I have an ER doc friend who does it and likes it a lot.
I have worked in several fields of medicine: Family Practice, Urgent care, SNF/long term care, hospice and Occupational Medicine and injury care. For me changing jobs and fields is always scary and anxiety provoking but the rewards in experience and work life balance is worth it. I also have been Medical Director in all my positions for the last 20 years. These always include a mix of administrative duties and patient care. I love patient care, so that is one of my requirements!
