If you’re a senior in FDD you already are the lowest level. If you want to go the banking route it’s best to jump as soon as possible - definitely don’t bring up promotion track when you’re talking to them the first time. Your objective is to get your foot in the door. Most banks won’t hire to the associate level without banking experience (or a solid MBA)
Eh. In the grand scope of things Senior isn't that far in your career, it's not a huge step back when you consider compensation and further opportunities. Title isn't everything.
In a year I’ll be up for manager and I’m just wondering if when I have a call with them if I should ask if I’d be on a fast track to associate or like a brand new analyst. But I suppose you’re right and that if it’s the type of job I want maybe I should just go for it and start at the beginning
That’s a good point. I am usually the lowest level on all my deals anyway. I am only in the introductory call phase so who knows if it will go further but think it’s worth exploring
