For those who are working in the office, do you think that wearing headphones in the workplace is considered rude? I guess we can also lump in AirPods too.

I think if you work solo the majority of the time and don't have a lot of interaction with others, it's not rude. I find it more rude to play your annoying music or podcasts loud for everyone else to hear lol

like

I agree! I think if you are doing it by yourself then it shouldn’t be an issue.

Absolutely not - infact I work inan open office environment and wouldn't be able to concentrate without headphones! As long as you aren't affecting others I.e. loud music.

like

Thank you for your thought process on this!

As long as it doesn't interfere with others, no.

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Keeping the volume manageable without it being too loud/obnoxious is key!

I don't wear mine because no one else in the office does. If I am alone in my office, I might put them in but when I am around others I don't wear them. I work with an older crowd and they would definitely view it as rude.

I totally get it. The older generation would absolutely view it as rude so I could see why you would t even try.

I wondered this as well. I am older and, usually, don’t find it rude. The issue I had was I managed a dept that needed everyone to stay engaged with their team. Although everyone had their own office, there was a lot of movement and face to face conversations. I found it frustrating to have to wait for them to catch up to the conversation and having to repeat the beginning of a question . I also encountered numerous employees that were watching videos (of all sorts - movies, podcasts, etc). which impacted their productivity.

I see. Thank you for your input!

No not at all. After 2 yrs wfh and no distractions or people walking around. Now being in office 4x’s a day I have too. My manager does too. Heck everyone around me wears one. I use wireless blue tooth with noise canceling. Works great

Thank you for your input. I didn’t think it was rude at as well.

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does this make any sense? I mean where does this sense of entitlement or ownership over the employees come from? No wonder the company in question is kind of facing a literal exodus!

What you should do when dealing with a very toxic worker that keep on sending passive aggressive messages to you as well as in group chat and email.
Things like when you answer his question he respond: I know that
Or when he keeps on saying my change requests were just minor in group meeting but actually not.
And keep on saying how hard he works when he clearly wasn’t and already underperformed compared to an intern level.

How to not let this toxic co-worker not poison me any further?

Hi SpEd Teachers, is anyone else facing EXTREME staff shortages as a result of state funding? We are not able to meet my students' IEP requirements (not even close) due to not enough paraprofessionals and the district flat out refusing to hire more. I've lost 70+ hrs/week of para hours over the past few years and my students are really suffering. This leaves our district open to lawsuits, but the real problem is the state's education budget. What can we do?? This isn't going to fix itself.

Hello, I am looking to make a career change that starts at a minimum 75K salary. The economy is tough right now and I can no longer afford to stay in my current role. I have a bachelors degree in Sociology with experience in managed care, utilization management, & clinical admin.. Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible higher paying career that I would be qualified for based on my background?

My joining date is coming closer, however education background checks are still processing ( international degrees) . My onboarding coordinator told me that I can still join even if education check is still in progress, provided there wont be any flags. I don’t see any issue with my degrees and have done same with my past companies.
Anyone experienced this ? Any problem joining while check is processing ?
