Bain & Company I’m a PhD student looking to start in consulting and am looking to connect with other PhD/ADP consultants that went into consulting to learn more about the experience and how to prep for case interviews coming from a non-business background. Especially looking for advice on McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Bain & Company
Hi Guyz,
Any one from IBM ?
I went through the entire recruitment process and got selected for IBM ISL. Now I am being told by the HR that they are unable to release offer as there is a hiring freeze.
Can any one please tell me if its correct or just an excuse not to give me offer. If its true, when will this freeze be removed?
Hi,
If I get referred at IBM, get a mail for details from the HR but do not reply as I currently don't want to switch because of some reasons, can I get referred again after say 3 months?
Asking cuz the profile blocks for an year after applying/getting referred at Accenture.
Please help with the answer.

Thinking of getting this watch, thoughts?

This shouldn’t be news to people but it is.

Anyone want to run Bain-style cases with me?

I would just let her get rejected and shrug later
Minimal effort, let ‘em throw it in the pile, see what happens 🤷🏻♀️

I’ve gone thru the same song and dance with multiple friends. You’re either in it 100% regardless of their shenanigans (because you’re their friend and you genuinely want to help) or you draw a hard line in the sand and tell them exactly how you said it - you’ve done all that you can / are willing to do.
Appreciate knowing I’m not the only one. 🥲
I’ve also gone through this with a few friends all who went straight to corporate finance / adjacent - they see the salary progression and the fact that 4 years post undergrad I’m making almost 2x them and they want to jump over.
I try to emphasize some hard facts: consulting doesn’t care about industry experience (mostly), I work more hours than they do, expectations/stress in consulting is likely higher than their role, etc. harping on some of the negatives. If they still want to attempt I’ll offer to review resumes/coach on cases IF I think they’re a good fit.
Some of them are not good fits. I’ve let them get declined. We’re still friends! At the end of the day I’ve consciously stopped talking about work/money as much as I did when I was fresh out of school.
