Even without a backup Job offer because I just want to live for once. The problem is that the effects of the pandemic will last another year or so at the least, and I want to be able to file for unemployment benefits because $400/week is better than nothing while I rest and recover.
Yes, a sabbatical is an option, but I do not want to return to consulting. I am so tired of it. I would actually be getting paid less by taking a sabbatical (20% base pay) rather than getting unemployment benefits at my state (CA).
I’m on a long term project and with fairly good performance ratings so I don’t think I’ll be a part of the first round of layoffs (when they come). How do I get laid off (instead of getting fired or quitting voluntarily) so I could qualify for U/E benefits?
Don’t quit. This will be over soon.
