Are vaccine passports the new masks? As in common sense but highly political and divisive?

Suppose we all agreed that vaccine passports are a good idea (and I tend to be in this camp). Now what?

We have a hundred million people who are already vaccinated. Is there a central database somewhere? If not, how are we going to create one—will we all show our little paper cards? If someone lost theirs, are they just SOL?

All that to say... If we were going to do a vaccine passport system, we needed to build the database before we started handing out shots. If the database doesn’t already exist, tough to build one now.

The problem with the passport isn’t that the government will track you. Just wait until it has an error on it... now you can’t go anywhere or do anything for the next 6-12 months while you try to fight the gears of government to try and get it corrected.

I’m not worried about being tracked. I carry both an iPhone and a Xiaomi.

My point is it’s one or the other.

I agree that adding a requirement to have an ID in order to vote will likely keep some away from the ballot box. Just don’t come back a week later and say you need an ID to go to Whole Foods or CVS. Seems a little inconsistent, no?

Thanks PwC1 for sharing the link. So the reason to start this bill and get it passed is all based on the election lies propagated by Trump and his team of lawyers. That helps me understand why this bill is just BS and people are opposing it. It is not without reason.

Why do you think the passports are “common sense”? Honest question.

Does the Excelsior Pass cover health data other than CV vaccination status?

Re reopening safely, I mean fine, if they think that should be required (or that their customer base will demand it).

Where are you seeing these? WHO denounced them so who’s asking for the “vaccine passport”?

like

If this becomes a recurring vaccine where you need a shot every year or couple years there’s no point in the passport. People will slowly stop getting them and tens of thousands will die similar to the flu each year. I am not against them by any means but if this is something needed often enough good luck getting people to get it routinely. I think for cruises and large events it makes sense to have it right now but also if you choose not to get it also not my problem if you get sick or worse. And those that can’t get it medically, well unfortunately they will be high risk and susceptible to getting it the rest of their lives. We will never get rid of this and like will never reach herd immunity. It’s the new part of life and a new risk to live with that can be mitigated with a shot if you so choose to get it.

I just started meds yesterday and the change in my focus and attention to detail is mind blowing. My only concern is, just yesterday I had a tough feedback session with my manager around how I’m taking too long to complete my work, giving them anxiety around close deadlines. I’m new in the job (3 months in). Should I explain anything about my adhd to my manager or just wait for them to notice the change in me?

How many of you actually want to go back to the office - and will take a Covid test before going in? Anyone gearing up to do that this week?

Has anyone on here suffered with scalp psoriasis and had success treating it? I've struggled with it for a few years, and I found that the last few months it has just gotten horrible. My scalp will start flaking the day after I wash it and I can visibly see large flakes in my hair - and I'm sure other people can too. It's getting embarassing and not sure what to do other than medication which I've heard can cause hair loss. I've tried ACV rinses and tea tree oil, but no real results.

Has anyone been successful in negotiating the schedule on a global pregnancy bill? My provider won't bill by visit and split the global cost into four payments all due by the 28th week. I don't understand how that's legal since it is so off the calendar of services and crosses calendar years (and insurance coverage), where most costs are incurred at the end of pregnancy with increased visit frequency and delivery.

Hello , anyone in this bowl working in the internal audit department of DB?

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

There’s been some turnover over the last six months at my firm, and I have taken over more files. However, I feel guilty that this is still happening. Any tips for getting over this?
