I just got an offer from EY in London but considering based on what the maternity policy is which doesn’t seem to be spelt out in contract or benefits pdf. Does anyone know a) if there’s a minimum employment period to qualify and b) what the enhanced maternity pay is. I’ve read both 16 weeks and 18 weeks.
Hi all,
Does your organization have a good work-life balance, especially for IDs? Or do you know any such organisation? Currently I am working for more than 12 hours a day. I am a mother of one year old, hence, want to switch to the organization, which has less work pressure.

Zoo or aquarium membership or special experience at one of them (ie feeding the penguins or dolphins,) movie passes, clothes/shoes for 1-2 seasons in the future, art/craft supplies that will need replacing and replenishing
Thank you! ❤️
Experiences? I’m looking at a membership to the local discovery kids place as one of their things this year.
Thank you! ❤️
Agree with the experiences… but also, if you’re looking for something tangible for them to open, books are always welcome in my house. So is anything we can use for pretend play - little people sets, any musical instruments, anything we can build (magnatiles, LEGO duplo sets), art supplies (crayons, dot markers, coloring books).
Sorry, one more thought… my almost 3 YO LOVES the Young, Wild and Friedman sensory kits as well… so much fun, lots of exploratory and pretend play.
Several of our relatives would give us family memberships each year to the zoo, aquarium or museums. They would give the kids something little each year that was related (stuffed animal, stickers, etc) so there was something to unwrap
Play dough with cookie cutters is a fun activity to have on hand, coloring books, Legoland Legos and puzzles
Experiences are great, but at that age don't get it as well as older kids.
However, I find 3 to 5 gifts is more than enough and then they get bored of opening them anyway. For our one year-old, clearly not our first kid, we re-wrapped a bunch of old toys that the kids hadn't seen in a while. Huge hit.
Yoto mini player and cards, we will always take more cards as gifts. My three year olds absolutely love the music ones, they have classical, Disney, etc.
Books and/or things that are consumed like art supplies.
Experience gifts for a big gift for sure.
In the $150 and above range you may also consider a nuggets or a Pickler triangle and related accessories.
Under $150 the micro scooter is a good one that gets a few years use.
Thank you! We bought a nugget off of FBM and the kids love it!
Books
Agree with everyone else experiences, art supplies, and building toys. And of course I have to add a Tonie box. What I love about Tonie, Magnatiles, Legos, etc. is that you can always add more. They keep coming out with new sets so adding to it gives an “old” toy new life.
We love ours, but my kids LOVE noise of any kind. 🙈
We love Ditty Bird books - a hit with both 1 and 3 year olds. Affordable gifts that don’t take up space FTW!
A subscription box. We get Kiwi Crates and love them. They have a 1 yo box (wooden toys mostly), and a 3 yo box (projects) and then you can level up as your kids get older. If you don’t want more toys then I’d say not to get it for your younger kid. But the projects for the 3 year olds are great!
Gucci loafers, obvi
This was def the thing we were missing. What about the bee sneakers?
Something I loved as a kid that my parents did was have people give to something like WorldVision where they can donate a cow or a pig or a chicken and rooster to a family in need. It makes it more tangible and outside the norm for charity giving.
Lessons for the older one (swim, soccer, art). Perhaps clothes and shoes in the next couple sizes up. And consumables like project boxes (Kiwico) or snacks. I also love adding to our Tonies collection. Babylist has birthday and holiday gift list functionality so I keep that up to date for my own shopping list and share it if anyone asks. I usually add the toy version of whatever adult thing my kiddo is obsessed with (vacuum, pizza oven etc) in hopes that they’ll leave it alone haha.
Toy kitchen and doll house (whether you have girls or boys). Both allow for lots of reciprocal play.
Yoto!!!
