Keep in mind anyone who speaks in absolutes about a firm are most likely wrong. Firms vary office by office, line by line, and even team by team.
Don’t, your mental health will suffer there too
I worked harder at CohnReznick then I did at Deloitte, just go to industry if you want a slow pace

Big facts
It’s not better at a midsize lol. The staff can be even less professional/ cross boundaries. I left RSM for PwC and it’s better here
It’s a myth that your work life balance is better at mid size. I worked way more at GT than I did at PwC
Left Deloitte for a great opportunity and we are hiring. Message me for more info
Left KPMG as a Senior for an opportunity at Crowe 6 years ago. Have enjoyed my time here and the firm culture in my opinion is night and day. Happy to talk more over private message
I didn’t enjoy moving from big 4 to a smaller firm. I found that I was working just as hard, had more clients, and that the smaller firm didn’t have the best technology and software or modern way of doing things. I regretted it and left to industry in a year. Also you have different offers coming out of a big 4 than you do a mid tier firm. Luckily I was able to land at a Fortune 500 company. However, just keep that in mind. They try to sell better work life balance and work environment but it’s the same. Also depending on how small the firm is you may have fewer people to work on projects/audits with. So if you don’t like the people you are kind of stuck with them. This is just my opinion but I would move to industry before I go to a smaller firm.
