I seem to do very well with interviews. And I’ve interviewed many people who have not done so well. Here’s my two cents. Come prepared. If you really want the job there’s no such thing as over preparation. Show you’ve done your research - I can’t stress how much this makes a difference and how frequently I’ve been disappointed by candidates who don’t. Yes research into the company and features, but also their competitors and the industry at large. Understand where they excel and where their challenges might be. Read reviews online - from customers and also from employees. I typically go through the website FAQ, search google keywords to see recent news articles on them, and then once I feel like I have a good grasp, I write up my questions and talking points. I’ll write up my potential responses to ‘common interview questions’ and sprinkle in how my experience fits in with real examples. Always tying it back to their needs listed in the job listing. They will ask if you have questions and you should always have some prepared.. extras just in case they cover some of yours during the meeting. Show curiosity with your questions to really stand out. Always send a thank you email and reiterate your interest and how you fit the profile of their ideal candidate. Have references on the ready and be proactive about providing them. Know your stats from your previous position, especially if you were a top performer. That can go a long way. Practice interview with someone so by the time the real one comes you have said out loud your responses and can be more comfortable and confident. Focus on the conversation flowing naturally. Search the interviewers on LinkedIn so you can come prepared knowing their roles and backgrounds and throw in personalization wherever you can (maybe you went to the same school or have a shared connection on LinkedIn). I hope this helped! Good luck!! 💃🏻
I’m interviewing people for NAM roles, and I like to ask on how you chased opportunity sales, or give me an example of proactiveness
.
Make sure you research their tech stack that would be applicable to your role and give yourself a cursory overview of the solutions you haven't used, if any.
