Loved the Marriott Wailea, it's also on the sunnier shore of Maui and away from the crowds in Kanapaali. However you'd probably need a car to do snorkeling or hikes.
It's not hard to earn 300K points if you travel every week. I have 500K right now and I used 280K over the Christmas break
Definitely agree with C1! We actually had the best snorkeling right at the beach of Marriott Wailea
Westin Ka’anapali is also good. While Wailea is a nice area, I would stay West Maui vs South if you want more places nearby (although honestly not much truly within “walking distance”).
Also not sure why you’re ruling out the Ritz, there is great snorkeling (and a beautiful beach) at Kapalua Bay nearby
Maui isn’t as much of a “walking distance” destination as say Honolulu/Waikiki would be. I’d strongly recommend getting a car so you can see all the island has to offer. If you haven’t booked flights yet, check the airline’s vacations page and price out a flight+car booking - it was WAY cheaper that way than booking direct (even with the firm’s negotiated rate)
Thanks! I booked us at the Marriott Wailea and already found a great deal on flights that I booked months ago. Now to figure out the excursions, car rental, etc. so exited!
Same had 500k using 250 k in April already earned back 50k since start of year
Over 850k here... lately I've been in hotels more than my own apartment.
Plenty of places within walking distance and excursions like fun hikes, snorkeling, other active things. Any tips on which to pick/things to do near that hotel?
I know travel agencies are old school, but for help around Hawaii check out Panda Travel. They are local to Hawaii and well respected there by the locals. Sometimes their flight deals blow away anything else. https://www.pandaonline.com
Do you mind sharing how you have so many Marriott points??
I’ve been traveling probably 45 weeks per year for over three years and haven’t gone and done a points blow out really ever in that time. For about 7 months I also stayed in a Manhattan hotel so got a lot of points over that time...probably have earned at least 750K gross since I started working
Marriott Wailea is pretty nice!
