If the money is good enough, why do you care about the title. The higher it is, the more work is expected from you.
Your goal in life should always be: more money, less responsibilities. Who cares about a title?
The other thing to consider - come in as SC and rock it, you're on fast track to manager. Come in at C, even if you get promoted in a year to SC, it is another few years before you get considered for M. On top, if you move laterally to a competitor later on, you don't want to "prove" yourself at C level again...
Ask for senior title. There is a $$ difference. Go in as SC and ask for money to match. You’ll be shocked at how dull your peers are if you are overly experienced and made to work beside them for less money.
Don’t compromise on the title. ‘Experienced’ anything is a joke being played on you by the HR.
While they claim the money is the same there will be a marked difference in the work. Along with that difference comes the chance for advancement - you’ll have to put in the time to be considered for senior consultant and probably see minor pay increases in the meantime Get the title or update your resume day 1 - start looking for a senior consultant or manager position
Sounds like the best possible scenario...if you’re truly senior you should make promo soon and your raise should be really good
Depends on where you are coming from. D/Ac/EY are notorious for extracting excessive free work out of individuals just for the right to climb the ladder (they call it proving proving yourself). There is no guarantee they will promote you within a year or two as well.
Similar thing happened to me. Gave me 135k with 10k sign on and VC but giving a Consultant title, I just accepted though.
How is that working out for you?
No money to marhc with title. They already topped out for senior
My take is that D have maxed out with too many SC’s and want to hire C’s only now. At some point it will become obvious who should be at what level and that’s when the fun will start. Personally at my time in life (15+ years experience) I wouldn’t come in as C. Your situation may be different
