Got an email from my team lead Cc'ing my manager asking "checking if you're okay since we don't see you in office this morning. Do you plan to wth today?" was in fact in the office I had just left my desk for 5 mins to get coffee and that's what I come back to. Neither of them were in office by the way...this is getting ridiculous...

Anyone witness slackers who got into companies you have no idea how? Had a coworker who does jack chit at work besides chatting on Facebook yet lands at a faang company? I guess if he brings the same work ethic he will be spit out for sure. Or maybe he just had no interest in doing project work.

I find myself questioning basic politeness I’ve learned since a child. Wondering what everyone else thinks. I work with an associate. She’s great. When she does good work or something I’ve asked her to do, I, of course, say “thank you!” I don’t really expect a response. She always replies “you’re welcome!” Or some variation. And for some reason, that’s awkward. Is it just me? I know in normal manners, that is the right response. Why does it sit funny?
