I would have definitely replied with "I'm not sure where you got the idea or information that I'm not in today because I stepped away for a water/bathroom break. I'm more than happy to come by your office/desk if you need me" just to see how they react or respond to that. Nothing drives me crazier than someone micromanaging to that level and then accusing you of something incorrectly.
I like that one too that’s a good one!
It’s BofA. Babysitting is normal….
lol unfortunately
Hit them with “what a coincidence, I was actually about to check if you guys were okay since I didn’t see either of you in the office today! Do you both plan to WFH today?”
Yes! I absolutely will! Lol I waited a few hours til I replied I just kept thinking about it and I was like nope I’m gonna have the last word in this
Did you respond??? I would have said, I stepped away to get coffee. I didn’t see you here today.
Yep at first I was caught off guard so just replied I am in the office…then got a “thanks must have been a miscommunication” so I replied and said “feel free to communicate with me directly next time so we can avoid any miscommunication and false assumptions :)” lol
Talk about micromanaging
I would have responded with a simple “I’m here. Did you need something?” It’s a subtle way of calling them out for micromanaging you because chances are they didn’t need anything from you.
☝🏻this
Take a picture of you in your desk seat and a picture of their empty seats/offices and reply with only that 🤣
Yes!!!
Rising Star
Assuming “wth” means “wfh”.
If neither of them are in the office, how would they know if you are (or aren’t) there?
Yea that’s a typo I meant wfh…I’m assuming she has someone keeping tabs on me or she asked someone to do a walk by although my bag was at my desk I was only away for a few mins
So, are you doing ok?
I am other than the work part of my life lol
This type of ridiculous micromanagement makes me want to leave corporate after 15 years of this type of behavior. Good managers end up moving up or out, only the toxic ones stick around to build their little fiefdoms that don’t focus on outcomes / results but rather control.
USB is exactly the same. Seems they’ve all really amped up their egotistical micromanagement systems lately…
You can also mention something like "it's hard to see me in the office when you're not here"
That was one of my ideas for responses as well. My manager was cc’d so I tried to keep it classy
And this is exactly the reason I've decided to retire.
Enough of this corp BS!!!
I'm 62 years old and have completed 3 careers in my life time and I refuse to be treated by anyone with disrespect.
It's not enough you show up everyday, work your tail off but they still want to find some way to make your life miserable.
Can't we just let our employees do their work and be productive without unnecessary micromanaging them.
Employees are adults, treat them with the respect they are due and you will be surprised to how loyal and productive they can and will be.
Just my humble opinion.🤗
I agree 10000%!
I wish someone would try to micromanage me. I’d throw it right back at them. Tell them their mother smells of elderberries
B of A = Bunch of A-holes
Pretty much
wait, you are human and need to take bathroom and coffee / water breaks? 🤣
This is just passive-aggressive micro mgmt. - acting like there is a general concern, but in reality, it is a 'bed check' to see if you are working.
Next time you see them (in person) ask them if you should be booking out time to run errands / coffee. The question (if framed genuinely) will allow them to see their approach to oversight is a bit ridiculous
So creepy. You should report to HR or switch group if this happens again.
I thought about sending to HR and adding “just so you know she hasn’t been in the office all week”….and considering letting my MD know next week in our 1-1 that after she comes back from maternity leave in August I refuse to work under her.
What’s a shady insecure character.what was the need to copy the manager, unless the manager is another wanker found everywhere. Ask him to create a timesheet to record who is going to come to office or wfh and on what dates. That way everyone knows where they are!
This is why I left BofA to go to chase
Omg, truth!!!!
