What’s with the angst on Cleveland? It’s no Chicago, but great place to raise a family. $170k will go a long way here.
Joakim Noah said it eloquently:
If you're used to an urban, walkable, city environment, Cleveland won't compare. But if you're looking for nice suburbs (with fantastic public schools) to raise a family, really short and easy commutes and day trips, and an incredible arts & culture scene (honestly comparable to, if not better than, Chicago), then Cleveland might be a great fit.

Only you can truly answer that.
What are long term prospects at the firm?
Lakewood , rocky river, bay village , west lake , Avon lake .... all top rated neighborhoods . Closer to airport . Closer to lake and downtown Cleveland.

Cleveland is decent for a family. That money will go long too. Just make sure it aligns to your long term goals
If in Akron, get a nice place somewhere in the national park in between. 20 minutes from both cities!

Cleveland is a great town, it just can’t shake its reputation from the 90s. Moved there from Chicago and lived there for 10 years, I only left to be closer to my kids but I’d move back in a heartbeat.
Plus, that $170k in Cleveland will feel like $225k in Chicago, as long as you stay out of Cleveland Heights/ Shaker Heights (crazy taxes)

You said you would work in Akron, so Hudson would be a really great area
