Just got an offer from McKinsey and had to go through that process. Honestly, I found a lot of their materials pretty helpful, especially because I hadn't done a real case interview in over 5 years. I signed up for one of their overview classes, used the practice cases on the website, and watched some YouTube videos about structuring. Good luck!
Didn't apply with a referral and I'd probably just echo the confidence point. I never thought I'd get an offer because what EY calls consulting is radically different (I guess depending on group?) from what MBB typically does. Confidence and a survive and advance mentality helped me a ton.
Are you guys aligned to pure strategy work or have a different background? McK reached out to me but said it wasn’t the best fit since most of my engagements are analytics based
I think that’s fine. BCG’s non-strategy work has contributed to a decent portal of their revenue.
Best advice would be to act confident even if you are not. Since you already have an idea on how they do those interviews then you can just beat your competitors off with your confidence. I would still advice you to check for sample interview questions in the internet. It helps a lot.
Thank you!
