Had multiple projects this year where client ultimately didn't sign the SOW and I wasted weeks on them. Chargeability took a hit as a result. Will I get some slack cause it wasn't my fault?

OP this happens to me regularly, it's absolute bullshit

like

In my group - yes - you'd get slack... just make sure your CC is very well versed

like

You guys work on a project without a signed SOW???

like

^routinely invest internal money to pay for "client relationship building" which includes gearing up to sell more work

like

You could try to spin it as BD. Were you actually assigned to roles in myscheduling or just told to show up?

like

It's just really annoying because 1) the work ends up not being chargeable and then 2) I spend non-chargeable time on the bench again after I "roll off"and have to restart the search process

like

P2: neither do we. QAD probably has a view here OP too. We don't make our people suffer for leadership errors (at least, good leaders don't).

like

Was told by project leadership the sow would be signed only to show up on-site and work for a few weeks without any signed work

What's your level?

Both A3. I'm an analyst so clearly it's out of my hands if the client didn't sign

Inform your CC and get air cover from the account MD...

If it doesn't sell, then correct, no sow

We don't hit the ground without a signed SOW, or a waiver from practice leader that says we can start work but aren't allowed to send a single document until SOW is signed.

QAD?

Quality Assurance Director. To get to a SoW the opportunity will have been through (several) formal reviews led by an MD.

I’m trying to fix up my resume to apply to other companies. It’s my first resume fix since college so I’m trying to see what to include/ take out.
1) Do I keep my internships? My leadership experiences in college?
2) How do I organize my engagement experiences - All combined bullets or separated by client?
3) How about my internal efforts? (I did 3 internal projects within the firm)
4) Education on top or bottom?

If anyone has a good resume example, please do share!

At what point does the value of a degree fall off? I'm in my early 30s, and have five years of experience, and work on a very theoretically interesting project. I believe I'm on track to promotion in the next year. So, I could put in a year of full time school to check the box off, but I'd be sacrificing hobbies and social life (not to mention cost). Is this FOMO or is there real opportunity here?

I joined a project that had already started and the team already settled on creating a user journey map, even though none of them are designers or in ux. I also have no experience in this field as I'm a data engineer. The user journey map was for mapping out the process for tenants finding housing assistance, so not a technical product. Given this new field and type of work, I've been having a really tough time. Anyone mind sharing what helped get you through your first ux project?

I've a question on what sections to put on a regular resume. I see some people are using consulting style resume for outside companies as well. Do you think it's a good idea to devide work experience by projets? Or is it better to have "projects highlights" separate from work experience.. something like: intro>functional expertise> project highlights>work experience>education?

Is it really that difficult to get hired for a federal job? I was interviewed for a GS12 job but never heard back, they still didn’t hire anyone and I didn’t get a rejection. I applied for another GS07 job, was accepted, I took it, but I believe I can do better. I have a master’s and have extra graduate research experience. I am still applying to new jobs but I was told it is impossible to move up the grade level now. Everyone is telling me to stick with the government. What are your thoughts?
