What’s the deal with software engineers/business analysts with 20 years of experience still in an individual contributor role with 10+ years at their current company?

I work with a lot of people in IT that seem to not only stay at the same bank for 10+ years but don’t change jobs/titles. I doubt their salaries have even kept up with inflation. Why do so many people seem to stay at the same employer with the same job?

Advice on applying to PM jobs with 1yr APM experience?

I’ve been working as an APM at my current company for 1yr, and have basically been doing the work of a full blown PM the entire time. I’ve lead several features from start to finish and made sure to mention in my resume that I have been doing everything a regular PM does. Has anyone ever hired an APM for a PM role or done it yourself? Any tips? Advice?

I started my new job completely remotely in June and when we go back to the office, it would be a 1.2 hour, 40-mile one way commute.. Would it be entitled of me to ask to come into the office 3x/week since by the time that we return to the office, I’ve already proven that I can work efficiently from home? Is there any advice for networking into projects when you don’t know many people at the firm yet? I always to help on BD work when I’m on the bench, but it never turns into any billable work. Every time I have talked to a partner/senior manager I was told I don’t have the skill set they’re looking for, but I don’t know how to build up from there.
