Happy March! I’m turning 29 this month and very excited but also a little bit nervous. I’m currently very happy on my own (after broke up with a long term ex 2 years ago) and LOVE being single. But I am a little bit concerned from time to time over whether single life will still be equally fun when I’m older. Any ladies here who has been single for a long time and enjoying your best life in 40s / 50s? Looking forward to amazing stories but do share as well Is you have the opposite view.

You asked, so here it is. The "opposite view." I married halfway through college when I was 20, held low-paying positions for most of the first 15 years, had three children, finished my college degree and started my professional career in my mid-30s. I was a virgin when I married and my husband is the only man I have ever been with. Who is happier, a woman who has numerous lovers in her life or who only has one man she truly loves throughout her life? I know which answer is right for me. Now in my early 50s I have to say I am enjoying my best life. The children are out of the house on their own and there's a couple of grandkids to wear us out and keep us young. The problem with having the freedom of living alone when you are a young adult is that it often leads to you living alone when you are older. I am not saying you cannot be a fulfilled woman unless you are married or have children. I am saying that, for me, I can't imagine any other life that would have been happier.

Nice

Another option is to get married or be in long term relationships but not have children. You both can have mostly independent lives and focus on careers but also have companionship when you want it - traveling, dinners out etc.
When you find the right person, a relationship (in any form) is great! Your priors probably not it.

29 and it sounds like you’re putting off relationships forever? You have the rest of your life. Your future husband might be divorcing his first wife right now. Live your best life and keep an eye out from time to time. If it doesn’t work out that’s okay too. Every married woman I know that’s 50+ is miserable.

I think it depends on the person - the situation will be what you make of it but it’s important to find likeminded people

I’m turning 29 this month too! When’s your birthday?

I'm an engineer, and I feel like my manager is more of a friend than anything else. Approaching 30 now and living with roommates in NYC, but considering moving to my own place. Has anyone found that living with roommates is better than living alone? Conventional wisdom says no.

I’m a pretty outgoing person and i like to have people around. I also like my roommates cause we chill. So I’m really scared of moving in alone and being lonely. Increase in rent will be marginal and totally affordable.

My friend just got out of a relationship and hooked up with his ex's best friend a week later. They're now dating and seeing each other everyday.
I couldn't help but feel like this wasn't an appropriate thing to do for both parties. He also revealed that he cheated on his past exes.

I'm naturally feeling a bit weary of his character and questioning whether this is a friend I want to keep close in my life. Perhaps I'm being too judgmental?

How does a person change their mindset to be more positive? I feel like I’m meant for my job, but blame all my life problems on it….having no energy, being single at the age of 30, etc. and it seems like a never ending loop. I look for new jobs, realize I have a good job then am ok for a bit then start it all over again. When I’m off of work I’m fine and realize I have it pretty good. Only real negative is I can’t vacation with my family in March due to my busy time.

Fellow enterprise tech sales fish, I’m interested to hear your perspective. I’ve been in a rut lately and seriously considering leaving sales. I think it’s primarily fueled by one thing:
After a 6 mo cycle I closed a large deal (4x the average deal size) prior to receiving delayed 2022 comp plans. The deal counts as a 2022 deal. On last years comp plan it would’ve paid out at 10%. This year it pays out at a measly 4%.

How do you/have you navigated your way through and out of these situations?

Hi All,
I am feeling lost in job. So I’ve applied for Accounts payable they offered 40k. I said why not to gain some experience. I didn’t even bother negotiating which I regret.
Fast forward I noticed that I was eventually handed everyone’s workload (AR & imports & duty and check coworker work + AP) Spoke to them about pay increase based on workload. So they raised it to 55k.. but I still feel underpaid based on the amt of work I do. I don’t know what my title or what to put on resume..
