If you earn now, it will be good through ‘19. Better to wait until Jan, churn 2 of their CCs. Then you’ll have the pass for ~22 months. Also, purchased points are NOT companion eligible, so you’re plan def work work
Thanks for clearing that up BCG. Good point, if you wait until Jan you’ll have it until end of 2020
I’ve had it for several years. Are they not doing the signup bonus anymore where you get 50k pts if you spend so much in 3 months? If you do the point purchase just make sure they qualify. I forget all the fine print
If you get it this year, you’ll have it until the end of 2019.
@BCG1 omg... I only got 25k points right now. These points reset in January right? How do I churn the CCs? Just open up both priority and plus CCs and get the 40k points each after spending 1k?
@BCG1 apparently their terms mention that you won’t get the bonus if you have a southwest CC already, so 2 CCs churned in one month work doesn’t seem like it would work?.
OP I got both of their CCs with the 50K bonus I pretty much earned their pass. So worth it, especially if you have an SO
Hmmm. Should be eligible for multiple bonuses. I did both the Plus and the Premium in ~Q2 when the bonuses were 50k for $2k. That got me to 104k. Only needed to spend $6k to hit 110k and get CP for ~19 months
More commonly, ppl do Premium and Biz cards
Sign up for the cards in November, just make sure you don’t hit the minimum spend until Jan. It’s whenever you get the signup point bonus (first you have to reach the $2 or $3k minimum and pay your statement). Getting a head start means you can have companion pass IN Jan, rather than starting in Jan and attaining by March
A1- they have 2 versions of each personal and business card. You can do this twice (I’ve had it the past 4 years).
BC1 is right, but need to be super diligent about rules and statement close dates. IIRC, TPG or OMAAT has a very detailed writeup.
I believe they just made a new rule that you can only have 1 Southwest personal card at a time.
