Has anyone felt like their job title was a hinderance in their job search?
I'm an HR Manager and I feel like I get declined quickly for HRBP roles. My duties are in line with an HRBP, my pay is certainly not manager level. I feel like these ATS' scan me out as quickly as I apply.
Anyone else feeling that way or have any advice? I could explain in a screen but can't get that far.

Absolutely. Title and industry are so overrated. I’ve been both a HR Manager and HRBP and so many of the skills were interchangeable.

Yup! My title with my last company was HR Generalist. I owned U.S
benefits management, compensation administration, and some HRIS optimization work. I had the hardest time scoring interviews for jobs that aligned with my salary expectations and experience. I left that job for my current one where I started as a Sr Benefits & Compliance specialist. Now, I'm trying to escape tech/ startups 🫠.

Within my first year of Consulting, really struggling with the hours amongst other things. Spoken to a couple of people internally and the advice is to get on to projects with bigger budgets and therefore bigger teams/more support. Just finishing my first week in as an audit intern and genuinely I have no idea what I'm doing or even a general idea of the audit process. The senior associate left the engagement last week so it's just me and an associate, and they don't have time to give me instruction.

Am I stupid or did the e-learns not prepare me for any of this? The training told me I'd be auditing cash but I haven't even touched a bank reconciliation.

Is this legal? My spouses company just decided to change their comp structure for account managers. It was base + comm, now it’s commission only but nothing changed, OT commission is the same, didn’t get more points, just took away the base pay and said work harder basically. So now they have to worker harder to get $50k they were already making. (Not a decision based on employee performance, they’ve been crushing it. I think the company is just trying to save money they overspent else where)

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?
