I'm curious what the average salary is for an Associate Agent. I'm licensed & do everything after the sale is made as well as refer new business. I have 14 years in the industry but have been at the current company less than a year, so I know that plays a part as well. Anyone in a like-position by chance?State Farm Allstate Travelers

When I got laid off bc of Covid my manager told me he “granted” me a promotion then and there for my LinkedIn.
I’m actually an intern. 🤫

Look at you Intern Director 🎉
The number of managers/bosses/decision makers I’ve had over the years who scoff at title promotions like they don’t mean anything is staggering. It’s also always followed by a chuckle and a ‘oh who cares about a title you’ve already been doing the work of (insert higher paying role)!

Exactly. Then show me my worth then.
I’ve done it. Got paid more when I was freelancing.
Not promoted, but did I change my title to mean something in the real world vs my actual internal title 100%
I had to do the same as my agency gave us weird titles that didn’t make sense to any other agencies. So I changed it to what the rest of the industry uses.
I feel like my boss at the time did that to make it hard to find and poach us on LinkedIn. They were the type of boss that would do something like that.
I agree with everyone here, if you never officially got the promotion you shouldn’t lie on the titles for that company on your resume or LinkedIn. However, if you were actually working at a senior level (without title) you could change your top level title on your resume and LinkedIn. I’ve always been told by recruiters to match your top level title to the job you’re applying for even if you’ve never officially held it. But you do need to come prepared to an interview with clear examples of how you have performed duties that qualify you for said title.

My yearly review count? 🤠
Lol I worked with some pretty Jr people that self promoted themselves to Sr on their LinkedIn (and no doubt resume too). Made me laugh as there is no way they operated at that level. It was cap

I would be promoted if it weren’t for the politics at Publicis.
I’ve heard the arguments about promoting yourself when you go freelance but if your doing the work why not. My last FT gig we had a promotion freeze for two years during the pandemic and my CCO had put me up for one that stalled out for over 18mo for budget reasons. I quit over it. That and the pandemic paycuts. I went freelance gave myself the promotion for a position I had already been doing. You have to be able to deliver on that title though or else your not going to retain clients.
Don’t promote yourself on LinkedIn or your resume. DO be honest with recruiters about exactly what you said here and let them know you’re looking to move up in your next role.
