Has anyone seen someone in big4 M&A tax switch to a generalist consulting role at T2/MBB? Not expecting tenure to transfer. People at the ~consultant level have said it’s basically an impossible switch, so I’m looking to see if PPMDs share that sentiment.

When's a good time to jump/transition between in house roles? I'm currently in house counsel (3 years big law, 3 in house). I was told by my manager that senior counsel would not be possible (unless current senior counsel) steps down. I'm comfortable here but also nervous about stalling my own career . How long can I stay in my associate counsel role before it looks bad on my resume? I'm looking to start a family so wouldn't mind staying for 2/3 more years.

I recently joined a firm doing general lit. The position was marketed as a match to my skill set. I’m doing nothing related my strengths and I’m languishing intellectually and professionally. In 12 months I’ve gone from loving law to wanting to quit the law altogether. I don’t have a book at all because my network consists of broke millennials and the pandemic makes it hard. Marketing told me the areas I want to practice aren’t big money makers. How can I find a better match?

As part of interview process, Amazon had requested me to provide my salary expectations. Based on which, I have been told that they will not be able to provide my expectation and is offering my current base as the total compensation for the role.
Should I consider interviewing for the role or should I decline given the recruiter has been upfront that the maximum for the role is lower than my current pay.

Perhaps an odd question, but I've recently moved into a technical career track. I perform well and have a great career sponsor who has asked me to think bigger about my career goals. I've noticed my social skills and way of thinking are shifting towards stereotypical Engineer. Less social, less big picture thinking.
