Are you finding it easy or challenging to translate your "in person" lessons to an online format?
You just finished teaching a skill / topic in your lesson. Children are now off to work on that skill independently: who are you targeting first to support, your students in the red or your students in the yellow?
After yesterday, this is my thought: I need to check with my students mentally first, the lesson can wait or be done tomorrow. Oxford High School is 21 miles from my school.
Does the workload lesson over time, or do you just get used to the longer hours? Hmmmm...
We just started using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System in our programs to measure quality of interactions and lesson plans. I think it's been one of the most meaningful tools for providing feedback to teachers.
What's the worst screw-up you've had on the job? What lessons did you learn and how did you recover?
Mistakes are the learned lessons to a better career. But every time I have made a mistake, it seems like it is the end of the world. I want to hear stories...of a time where you made a mistake and your superiors did not freak out, but used it as a lesson for you. does that exist anywhere?
How many teachers set their own curriculum, meaning that you come up with everything you teach and assess? Beyond that, how many teachers are expected to change up their content almost every year? As a high school English teacher, I develop everything myself or collaborate with my (frankly amazing) coworkers. We are asked constantly to find new, modern books to buy and to develop curriculum around them (because our subject is more skill based). Wondering if other districts/subjects do the same.
Kids - Let this be a lesson to buy tracking at USPS for important mail. Also, please forward the documents to Tucker Carlson if you find them in your mailbox. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2020/oct/29/fox-news-tucker-carlson-mocked-for-lost-in-the-mail-biden-documents-claim
Hello! I teach a high school financial algebra class and we have only 4 weeks left of school. Are there any projects or unit lessons you’d recommend? I want to keep up engagement. Thank you!
Here’s a reminder for my perfectionists, first/second years, and those of us questioning if we’re doing enough. Your lessons do not need to be incredible this year. Fall back on some of your favorites, do what you can, and make sure you’re allocating time for yourself everyday. Yes everyday or else you will go insane. End each day by saying you did your best and no matter what mistakes you make or if lessons flop, try again the next day. You. Are. Human.
Aunt lesson learned today: Apple juice is kept on the shelves, not in a refrigerated section, at the store. 🤷♀️
What’s one hobby you’d want to pursue if you had more time? I’ll start: I want to take vocal lessons to become a better singer
If I learned how to code. Would it help me make more money by switching to a developer position?
Planning on buying a vacation home and renting it out when I’m not using it. Anyone with Airbnb’s or the like have issues with cleaners/maintenance from afar? It would be a plane ride so hard to check in that things have been done properly.
I visited a friends that has a 1 year old baby. She asked me if I wanted to get a dog, and then asked me if I wanted to get a plant 😂. She said it was a good way to start carrying for something else and get experience for the future. I think this is hillarious I don’t see how a dog or a plant will fulfill my life. 😂
Have an offer on the table at a startup that’s $35K more than current big 4 salary for a Senior Manager role. Benefits package is very comparable (401k match, healthcare costs, fringe stipends for WFH). Startup has been around for 5+ years and has secured a solid, 9 figures of investor dollars. Is it worth the move and having to leave my extremely secure “network” and role at a Big 4?
Anyone have leads on a firm hiring fully remote, entry level corporate attorneys? I am a 4th year lit associate, but would be willing to start from the bottom to change practice areas and be remote, especially if the firm pays well.
Any idea on what lifestyle looks like for Principal/ Director levels at KKR Capstone? Someone reached out for a role and I’ve honestly never considered PE Ops because of my perception that WLB will be worse than MBB.
Are consulting, financial or tech firms still hiring in the midst of COVID-19? Heard about any layoffs?
I am S2 in KPMG getting 98k recently interviewed with EY, is 125k too much to ask for?????
Can someone at EY consulting provide a referral?
United's customer service is so bad. Tonight was the last straw. Im global services but can't keep supporting a company that treats loyal customers so poorly.Which airlines have good customer service?
Does anyone else have constant imposters syndrome? 5 years with the firm, been consistently rated 1 except in first years at new levels. Got an office transfer I requested and a team transfer I was “head hunted” for. Everyone says I’m doing great but I still wake up every morning fearing today’s the day the you’re fired hammer is going to slam down and catch up with me.
Anyone have cases they found very helpful when preparing for interviews? Im looking for a real challenge that’s realistic to what I’ll get on the interview day
There needs to be an emotional support group for community managers, man. Reading/dealing with unnecessarily angry comments and messages every day really does take a toll on your mental health...
Was due for a laptop upgrade this month snd usually get the first email around 6 months earlier. In light of COVID, anybody know the approx. delay?
Now that some of us are traveling, does anyone else get a little concerned about going through metal detector/body scanner constantly (even pre covid) and worry about getting cancer?
