Look up dollar cost averaging. Basically since time in the market is better than timing the market, start putting in chunks now. Over a long period of time things should trend upwards and you’ll make money regardless of overpriced securities now. You can always hold a chunk for the dip, but if the dip doesn’t come you’ll still have a portion growing. Way oversimplified here but hopefully you get the point

I’m a Big4 lawyer (accounting firms). I’m in EBEC space of M&A, but recently started doing HR compliance type work including employment (employee misclassification and wage and hour) and benefits compliance with a different team. I’ve always wanted to break into L&E and first time doing real legal analysis (applying factor test and exceptions) after law school.1) how do I continue leveraging the new connections to get work? 2) does it transition to law firm side of L&E should I desire to move?

We are in the process of consolidating accounts for a new client and moving them over to Charles Schwab where we custody - all straight forward stuff. The client has an old 401k from a previous employer and filled out the paperwork with that 401k to roll it to Schwab. So about $470k hit her Schwab account last week. And then exactly 7 days later, another $460k hits again. Both from the 401k custodian. But her account was only $470k. I think they messed up royally. Now what???

Non-US / UK consulting partners - I have been long following the posts here. What I realise is that the US partners feel very strongly that being a B4 partner is best opportunity once could have (maybe just followed by FAANG). With the $1M+ pay and a pension, potentially it makes a lot of sense. With no pensions and some of start ups, Tech companies paying more in other countries, global roles (vs local focus) - what are your views about considering opportunities outside B4

Need some advice! I'm a recent PhD grad (30 yo) in STEM, and just got some offers from different companies. It's a very chill job (9-5) with good people but limited opportunity to growth. 2) from a consulting company in NYC as a data science consultant, 130k + 10k signing bonus. Which one you choose? why?

How do you guys schedule your hours? Say I need to hit 200 hours per month. Currently I take the amount of working days in a month (M-F) and divide it by 200 to get how many hours I need to bill per day. For example, May has 20 working days, so I need to bill 10hrs./day M-F. I’ve done exactly that thus far and have been able to stick to a pretty consistent schedule. But I know a lot work on weekends. For instance, if I worked Saturdays too there are 25 billable days which means 8hrs/day.
