Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

Honestly, I highly doubt they would ever pay 40-50k in Chicago. I feel like salaries at RSM are pretty streamline. They start first year associates at my office with a MCOL at 60ish (maybe more now), and I think Chicago is on the same pay scale as my office. This is also for audit, who is paid less than consulting. More than likely, you’ll get the 70s without even asking.
$72k sounds reasonable. You can just admit you weren’t aware of the COL difference, if you need to
I’m sure there are set ranges. See what they offer and counter if it’s too low.
No not at all. You could easily say you misspoke. I believe they give all college new hires the same amount adjusted for COL. I was offered 70k + 3% bonus out of college so roughly 72k (based on Boston). You could easily get the same offer in Chicago bc I think they’re pretty comparable COLs
Agreed. All new hires get the same comp for that office and service line now.

Why would the median rent affect the salary range? That’s irreverent, you need to use median salary data for that position, not what you think your estimated livings costs will be.
You’re right median salary data is important but my asking price is based off of the COL. I would personally not accept a full time position that would force me to worry about making rent.
From my understanding, RSM doesn’t really do negotiation at this level. Instead, they have a set offer determined by the market area, etc. I wouldn’t stress! I don’t think in Chicago you’ll get an offer that low.
That is 100% correct.
I lowballed myself in my first interview and in the next one used my upcoming promotion as a change in circumstances and asked to change my number. They don’t seem to push back at all. I could easily have gotten more if I didn’t lowball myself the second time as well 😂 just don’t think trying to adjust my number again would go well.
So if you have any other offers, use it as leverage. They’re not gonna lock you down at your initial offer.
I’ve lowballed myself by accident and didn’t even know - and they came back with a higher number in the offer letter with me even asking. My advice is to maybe do some research now on market salaries for your role and decide if the offer letter is within your expectations and see if u can renegotiate
See what they offer and try so squeeze a few more K out of it if possible
