I’d get clear on what you hope to accomplish before hiring a personal trainer. Do you want to lose weight? If that’s so, it’s about locking down your nutrition- that is going to be the main determination of success. If you want to learn about technique and get a routine for working out, a PT can be helpful.
I haven’t personally worked with a nutritionist. For me what has worked is tracking calories with my fitness pal. If you want to lose weight a good rule of thumb is to eat 10-12x your goal weight. For example if you goal weight is 150 lbs, aim for 1500-1800 cals a day. Protein will help you feel full - focus on protein and make sure all your meals have protein in them. You can get more complicated than this but it’s a good startx
I agree. I had a PT and saw no real results. Lost 10lbs in 1.5 months when I stopped eating junk food. I eat about 25-30g of protein with each meal, minimal sugar & only veggies + protein at dinner (before 8pm).
This plus walking 8-10kms a day and working out for 45min 3-4 times a week made the difference for me.
Remember - weight loss is about 80% nutrition. I would rather spend that money on healthier food choices instead of a PT.
8-10k a day?? teach me your wats d1!! I'm lucky if I get over a certain number of steps in a day

Getting a personal trainer really worked for me. I know myself; I always need someone to tell me what I should do. It's always great to have someone to have you push you harder towards your goal.
If I had one thing to tell my old self, someone who is easy to give up, it would be to always show up no matter what. Show up for yourself, show up even when you don't want to, and show up even if you don't think you can do it anymore.
Be clear about your goals. It's crucial to know what exactly you are aiming for. Be specific with your trainer. They need it to craft the perfect game plan for you.
It's as important to pick a personal trainer that you get on with. You'll be spending an entire journey with them so choose someone you enjoy working with. With someone whom you feel safe with.
Working with a personal trainer is helpful. But not so much if the only exercise you do is with them once a week. Get moving on your own. Supplement your training with initiative.
Maybe you should go see a professional first. Your body type or health could be one of the reasons. But getting a PT sounds great too.
