Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase?Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
JPMorgan Chase Did a first round interview for a senior level position at JP Morgan.. hiring manager said I should receive a call back within a couple of weeks.. been over a month.. no intimation post that.. the HR in charge of hiring or scheduling haven’t replied to my emails on what comes next and haven’t scheduled anything. So should I consider this as a dead end ? Does this generally happen at JP? Feels weird that I have been ghosted after what I felt was a very good interview.. Was a good fit too.JPMorgan Chase

Instead of SA. Was still interested as the comp was significantly higher than where I am at now. Fast forward to today, I was emailed by HR saying that they did not get approval for additional headcount but they will look to reach out in the future should something arise. I get rejecting someone based on bad interviews but the feedback was all positive. What is the purpose of making someone go through rounds and case interviews without qualifying them for the position first? Thoughts?
Could be an excuse for “our spots has been filled” or something alike.
I recruited at a consultancy very recently. Got a direct call from an MD who interviewed me for the first round, telling me there will be a superday in the weeks ahead. Never heard back from the firm for 3 weeks. I reached out to HR and was told that the spots has been filled simply because other candidates had earlier superdays.
I interviewed for three roles where after screening and even a few more interviews, I was told the position was no longer open. Feedback across all 3 is that the position was filled by someone who applied before me, but they liked my resume and wanted to keep me in their pipeline
Rising Star
This is normal. Things change all the time. You are not special. Role x turns into role y then role z. You have to play it out / sometimes you may been benefit from it. Other times not. The most important thing is not to personalize it - it’s not about you, it’s just about changing needs.
