1,000%. I will never work in an office again given office politics, ass kissing and back biting and the commute!

like

Ditto! I've been the target too many times while I'm the office. If they can't see me, they leave me alone. Never going back!

like

Absolutely! Working from home has really helped me streamline my tasks and reduce distractions. I find I can focus better and get so much more done.

like

Heck yeah! I get more work and housework done!

like

I work exclusively remote and will never work in an office again! You can get more done if you are someone who is self-motivated and responsible.

like

Absolutely! I’m so much more productive being remote.

like

I commute 2 hours to the office so absolutely am more productive just because I can use these two hours to either sleep in and get more rest or start early if I have a lot to do that day. I‘m usually at home 3-4 days a week and in the office 1-2.

💯

like

Yes, generally. I get WFH 2 days a week and I try to save those days for document reviews or med chrons...solid billing that I can make good progress on at home.

like

Absolutely! I have far fewer distractions!

like

Yes, definitely. I can't go back to in-office or hybrid setting.

100%, and my billables prove it.

I wish I worked remotely. Solos, let your paras work remotely 😭

If you are fresher, go for a WF Office setup. You will learn things beyond your work. In the initial phase of of your career, one needs to focus more on learning than on comfort. The interactions at office, meeting with collegues, conversations at the cafeteria, sense of responsibilty, the need to walk up on time to reach office etc will shape you for better.

Once you have a work experience of few year then any setup is fine. Go for WFH.

It’s looking like my job is gonna start asking us to return to the office. We have an open office plan and before we wfh FT I would save all my work for my telework days bc I can’t get shit done in the office. I’m having major anxiety about them making this decision. I know I’m not alone that people don’t want to return to the office. My ADHD and the open office just makes working from the office a nightmare and I’m feeling really nervous and kind of resentful.

Additional Posts in Paralegals

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? I recently left a large lawfirm to go in-house which came with a huge paycut that is not going to be sustainable long term, but needed a remote position to be able to move. I'd like to keep my current job part-time but get back in a lawfirm too.

I’m interviewing with another firm next week. Has anyone made a switch like that before? How did you do it? I work in a small criminal firm now. Interview is with a same size/practice area firm.

For those of you who made the switch to in house/corporate law, what was your experience like? Did you have to take a lower position to gain the experience or were you able to argue that your soft skills were transferable to in house? I’ve been in litigation for 15 years and I’m looking to make the switch. Ultimately, I’d like to get into Legal Ops, but feel getting some in house experience first would be beneficial.

(1/2) I started a new job less than a month ago at a large firm with a significant pay increase. I work remotely- which is a special arrangement. They paid for my travel to their headquarters for in-person training. After interacting with my manager and some of the attorneys, I feel like I made a mistake. Manager is demeaning and rude. A bunch of the attorneys dropped not so subtle hints that people who work from home are causing all kinds of problems. I don’t know what to do.
