There’s never a “good” time to quit. Do it professionally: give proper notice and transition your scope of work and that’s all anyone can truly ask. I’m sorry you’re feeling burnt out and hope it gets better
Why not just quit the project instead of the job? I mean, if you’re really at the point that you’re willing to leave, so it’s not an empty bluff, just tell TM or the project Partner that you can’t stand the project anymore, need to be rolled off within two weeks, or you are giving your two week notice. I mean, you’ll burn bridges but desperate times call for desperate measures. Either it works out and your next project is better or it doesn’t and you’re no worse off (still leaving the firm).
Also, if it’s WLB that’s driving you off the ledge and nothing fundamental about consulting or the firm, it’s almost definitely addressable. Happy to help you look into what steps might be taken, if you need an advocate
No joke; I did something like this at some point in my 2nd year in consulting and the execution Partner was surprisingly understanding and helpful in working out next steps. (In retrospect I realize the good ones usually are, at least when you give them a chance to understand).
I mean what can they do you are quiting.
It’s gotta be really hard to not quit during a project...unless you guys r on the bench months at a time. Can’t pick the perfect timing when job hunting
If you talk to your manager and say you are burned out and want to quit - most of the time they will find a replacement and offer you some time off .
LOL not at accenture
You will burn bridges but don’t look back and you’ll be alright
Please try not to quit unless you have something good lined up already
Agree with D2. don’t quit without another job lined up
Agree with IBM1. Just ask for help and take some time off.
Thanks - my firm calls them performance manager, project manager, and “someone you can talk to who helps with coordinating staffing so.. 😆
Not sure what you mean by repercussions?
What if someone in your team quit and dumped their work on you? Think about your team and exit professionally
Quit, leave, go do what you gotta do!
Nobody is irreplaceable
Just quit
Yeah but you will when you start job hunting.
No repercussions if you quit as long as you do a a reasonable handover. 2 weeks are sufficient
Trying to request an unpaid LOA now . Never easy. PM just questioned my commitment and asked me to not bill because they’re over budget anyway ... lol
Jesus. What company is this? Asking you not to bill while still asking you to do work is just wrong
