I like pIA. Very low cost. Also a Simple IRA works for small businesses.
Pres is right. It depends on the business size and structure, as well as the financial situation and goals of owner.
401k, even an inexpensive one, is more expensive than Simple IRA. Owner would need to want to contribute more than the Simple limit to have it (401) make sense. 100 employees and it can't be a Simple anymore. If they don't have employees then an Individual 401k is best.
It depends on plank assets. Securian has a great platform for startup plans.
