Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities
Hi all! I’m looking to connect with folks who either work at Coinbase or have interviewed recently for the Business Operations and Strategy Manager or similar role. I am looking to schedule my first interview which I believe is a consulting style case. So any details you can provide, I am all ears. The next interview will be a presentation. Again if you have any experience/advice on this, I’m ready to listen.
Thanks in advance! Help me escape Deloitte pleaseeee. I want this job sooo much!

Ideally you need PE experience pre-MBA to go back to PE because once you get to your MBA you’ll realized all of the people getting looks from PE shops have done PE before bschool. You would definitely need that to by-pass IB. It’s also nearly impossible to jump from IB at post-MBA level to PE. That being said - there are always exceptions. I’m just describing what I’ve seen / heard from people.
Anything is possible with an M7 MBA. Recruit and you can pivot into IB, even if you didn’t have IB experience before (albeit you’re not too old).
Except PE, you need IB experience ideally.
It is a tough road, but if you go to a top 10 MBA, then a tier 1 IB and do financings for PE deals like lev fin work, then it is a possibility.
You would need to be networking with the PE firms for post IB work while in b-school to get on their radar screens. This is because there are not many PE investment team roles relative to the number of i-bankers that want to do PE, so it requires a lot of time consuming work of networking, etc.
Is it really that hard to go from consulting to PE??
CA1 - if pre-MBA and at an MBB or top tier 2 doing PE work (CDD/VDD) then it is much more likely. My PE practice has lots of people exit to VC and PE.
