Heard BBH NY laid off 1/3 of the agency today. Mostly women and/or POC. 😬

I’m at an agency that just went through several rounds of layoffs. It often seems like staff have no recourse when the layoffs hit. How could a staff union assist in that situation?

Have you ever negotiated a severance? Company ended my employment and wants me to sign a mutual non-disparagement, waive suing them, etc. but they didn't offer me any money. They are fully in the wrong, it's a disability related issue. My options are 1. Sign 2. Refuse to sign 3. Try to negotiate. 4. Sue them (contingent on attorney taking the case). I'd prefer to negotiate, but not sure that's realistic.

Does a severance usually come with a lack of work letter? (Big4)

OK gonna maybe open a can of worms here but I have to ask: it seems the sudden inflation we're seeing has taken the ins. ind. by surprise. The cost/expense projections done X yrs. ago for this and poss'y subsequent yrs. have been thrown off. Costs to repair/replace cars have shot up unexpectedly. Same for houses. Med costs have all gone up. Ins. cos. have relatively thin profit margins to begin with. There's talk of cost-cutting measures-- incl. layoffs. How realistic are these concerns?

Worked as an admin assist for 5 years... was fired for ASKING FOR A RAISE. Was making $22/hr. Located in NYC. Past 2 months i have going on interview after interview only to be ghosted. I've applied for some executive admin spots as well. Any advice on getting an exec assist job?

Hey all, ~7 years I've been working with fixed income analytics (duration, spread, etc) and perf attribution for institutional inv mgmt firm with close to $400B aum. I'm being laid off in a couple months. Should I say I'm being laid off in interviews? Or is that a negative? I get severance if I stay the whole time so ideally I can time it. Have finance degree, CFA charter. Most of work has been IG, but also some HY, EM and equity. Want to go into equity research/PM- worried I'm pigeonholed

How many times have you been laid off? Each time things went from abysmal to amazing. It happens way more than you think, so just a boost for anyone who’s struggling. I now work for one of the most awarded company’s in Advertising, globally (and proud to have led a bunch of the work) I’m at 5 by the way.

This has been my experience but do y’all think recession/layoff don’t usually affect accounting professionals much as compared to other fileds? I mean we all should have at least one positive thing to be accountant haha.

recently promoted to senior analyst into a new group (internal transfer). Been in the role for 2 months, and everytime I make a mistake I always get anxious that I'm going to be fired. Most of my (few to begin with) mistakes are minor, and its a pretty different role from what i was doing before tbh... anyone have any advice for this anxiety? in general how bad do u have to be to get fired, and how many chances do you get lol. is it possible one mistake sends u home if its big enough?
