Thinking of applying for the audit senior associate role for ESG at KPMG - wondering if anyone can provide some insight on their experience relating to ESG audit engagements.

Is it bad to be the first candidate that the hiring manager interviews? Was told I might not hear back for a while bc they have to still review the other candidates? One replied to my thank you note saying “we will be in touch!”

Salary check. I am currently an in house attorney. 12 YOE. Large company with great coworkers doing regulatory work for the insurance industry. Good work life balance. I live in a high COL city. Out of curiosity and to test the market, I interviewed at a FAANG. Did not get the job, but found out TC was 350k, significantly higher than my TC 230k. What's the inhand salary calculation for below 2 offers(after tax)

1. 34 LPA fixed pay ( both employer and employee PF included) 12% of Basic. Total 3.2 LPA in PF deduction.

I passed CPA and have audit experience but I don’t really understand how industry accounting cycle works :( What does it mean to close the books? Are they referring to 12/31 deadline? Do all JE have to be recorded within this date? How does one close it?
