McKinsey & Company Hello 🐠🐠🐠,

Don’t know how I’m feeling about this right now..
Been at Deloitte a few years as a software engineer and just accepted an offer at McKinsey. Now that might not sound overly unusual, but I don’t have a college degree. I said this to recruitment and the hiring manager and they didn’t seem to care. I didn’t know McKinsey hired people without degrees. Deloitte McKinsey & Company

Congrats! Don’t stress. Mck is full of some of the smartest people around. You’ll learn a ton, and hopefully be part of them learning from what you bring to the table. They’re good at hiring great people, AND they are huge brand whores (sorry McK but you know it’s true), so the fact that you got an offer without a degree means they saw something special in you. Just take that at face value and run with it!

ya its true

Tech is about the only exception to the rule. It’s immediately quantifiable.

You belong. Resumes are reviewed. You were extended the offer because you’re capable. We’re also moving away from “oh, you had to have gone to this list College” BS as well. Either you have to or you don’t. And you’ve got it! Good luck.

Congratulations. Don’t sweat the haters. Don’t ask for what’s next, take it. Good luck

Congrats, new McKinsey CEO is trying to hire a more diverse crew (different experience / backgrounds) turns out having only Bros from ivy hasn’t worked out all the time.

I was in IT for many years before I decided to go back and finish school. Mainly it was because I was tired of answering the "do you have a degree?" question. Getting educated can't hurt (take some interesting classes!) and then you can check the box

All opinions are valid, but I disagree with this for someone that already has a successful track record at Deloitte and now McKinsey.

IMO The only value an undergrad degree in comp sci provides at this point would be personal academic interest in obscure shit OP may not have bothered with on his/her own outside of Uni (eg formal classroom study on the mathematical underpinnings of algorithms, etc).

Bubble sort and Dijkstra's algorithm ftw.

Congratulations! Don’t sweat it.

Long post alert; I have been interviewing with a b4 for a senior con role since Mar end. Cleared all the rounds including case study and got strong rating as well as good feedback. Fast forward to last week, the talent POC calls me up and informs that she has asked the business if the position is still open, because now they just need the business approval to roll out the offer. I immediately felt demotivated as to ‘why now’ after all rounds have been cleared (continued in the comment below)

Hi all! I got rejected from JPMorgan for their Global Finance and Business Management program (through my resume, couldn’t make it to interview). However, I’d reached out to recruiters and am meeting with one in a couple of days! Do I have a shot at turning this around? Or will it not matter once she learns I was rejected. Thanks!

Hi! The role I interviewed for has been deprioritised. Has anyone else experienced this? This was announced 2days before the hiring freeze.. should I assume the job will be cancelled? Or in your opinion, are roles likely to be open again? This is a non tech role as a Research & Insights lead for Google Apps.

Recruiter hasn’t been very responsive.

I was a Manager at a Big4 doing PM fed work earlier this year. I decided to join a small firm to pursue cloud sales. However, the position is extremely technical in nature and I'm required to speak tech ( kubernetes, openshift, CICD) to potential clients.
While I have learned from the exposure, I dont intend to continue in a tech role & looking to exit. I'm thinking of Customer/ Partner Success Manager roles with one of the CSPs. Are there other non tech cloud exit opps in industry to consider?

Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

DM me if you have something above, thanks.

I once asked a colleague at a radio company how much he's paid monthly, and he outright refused to tell me. In fact, he found it very odd that I asked. I later learned that he was making double my salary. I know it's not an employee's job to fix pay inequity by sharing their salary figures, but I'm still of the opinion that it helps uncover pay gaps. But do you think it's wise to do so at the risk of damaging your work environment or the whole thing backfiring on you? Thoughts are welcome.
