Just apply for Human Capital Advisory or HR Transformation roles. If you have L&D or OD experience, that tends to be more of a utility skill. There are plenty of opportunities in change management around learning as well.
Look up the HBS resume format. When you’re ready to apply, use one of those websites that looks at your resume vs the JD to see where you can improve.
You have consulting experience if you’re an HRBP. Don’t sell yourself short. Focus on your transferable skills around influencing stakeholders with data driven solutions, your executive presence and your ability to lead projects. The rest will follow.
That said, think about the aspect of Human Capital you like to specialize in. Is it change management, Org Design, DEI, total rewards, etc.? Coming into consulting as a broad generalist is fine at the junior level, but you’re expected to specialize at the mid-to-senior level (but still be dangerous in broad areas).
Why are you looking to pivot, out of curiosity?
Before you look to pivot in, make sure you’ve dealt with the fear portion. Consulting is not for the faint of heart and there are some forms where mean girl competition is stronger than others. In those environments, that fear can lead to performance issues and isolation if you don’t have it under control and can figure out a way forward.
