Hello, I’m an incoming senior in college looking to get Big 4 experience that will provide me broad industry knowledge. Should I intern in valuations in New York? Or risk assurance in Denver?

Valuation in New York

like

Risk assurance has nothing to do with finance. So I would say valuations

like

Risk assurance is basically...internal auditing.

like

Not quite^ ...... but still doesn’t have anything to do with finance.

like

Stay far away from anything genetically labeled “risk” or “advisory” - vast majority of these practices (and largely those that would hire campus interns) are IT audit related.

like

^ whoa dick. Calm down

PwC 1 - I see nothing in OP's post about wanting to be in finance. Sorry you couldn't make it and had to do accounting as a backup, but not everybody is a failed Gordon Gekko like you.

SAA1 did I miss something? Lol I was explaining that risk assurance doesn’t have anything to do with finance and that it also is not only limited to internal auditing. For some reason I thought OP’s original post said he was a finance major in college. Maybe they changed it or I was answering another post. Also I don’t do accounting. I’m in risk assurance, not doing accounting work.

I’m having the hardest time finding a new job. I have 12 years of HR experience, a masters in HR, SHRM certification, and all I keep getting are rejection emails. Interested in joining the Reserves, but I’m guessing that’s way too much with a consulting career? No ROTC or previous military experience so I’d have to go through OCS/OTS as well.
Or is it better to wait until I exit to industry and pursue my interest in the military then?
Any and all advice appreciated.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!

any insight into how a pmm skillset is different from a brand strategist one? of course the pmm applies insights to and influences the product, but it seems like a lot of the core elements - research, understanding the user, generating insights, developing messaging and angles to speak to them, etc are super similar. interested in transitioning and I want to understand where my gaps are!

Offering advice to job seekers who go around recruiters and message hiring teams, execs, etc. You are putting the Recruiters job in danger. If a Recruiter declines you or doesn’t choose to reach out, it is because the hiring team declined you, or you don’t have the experience. You will most likely not be considered for future roles because of this. When I see people giving advice to reach outside the Recruiter, it’s bad advice. Very rare is this a good idea.

I have an offer to do some consulting for a company based out of the UK (I am in the US). The job would not go through a consulting company but would be directly with the company. I have not done any consulting before so I am not sure how it works, what I would need to set up (they mentioned that I would start a LLC and bill them directly, no idea how to do that), how to determine the tax implications of this, or what hourly rate I would expect. Can anyone offer advice?

Will base jump from 120 - 145 make a significant difference in my saving? Offer has significantly less PTO and a lower 401k match. 32F with 400k saved, interested in buying a home soon in HCOL.

I am a Backend Python Developer. Is DSA/Competitive Programing mandatory for job change?
Any Advice/help would be really appreciated :)
