That sounds accurate. You have to be with the firm at least for one year. In my case, after 12 months they reached out to my boss and asked if they wanted to keep me permanently or if it was going to be only for the duration of the visa. My boss approved (after talking to me, of course) and there is a budget that needs to be approved for that (he mentioned something around 25-35K). After all was set, it took them 4 months to start reaching ou to me for paperwork and etc. process is still running, pending only i485 now.
My boss reached out to me in Dec/2019. Process started on March/2020. Still ongoing as I still need the i485 approval.
It is a long road. I’d say have your docs organized, scanned, and with you. Go after your (and spouse/kids if it is your case) birth certificate (people usually have it only scanned or a really old copy of it) and get it translated as this is usually time consuming.
thats accurate, you need to wait 12m. are you a manager?
Yea manager. Have you gone through the process yourself? How was your experience and any learnings you can share?
my advise you have to be on top of everything, email again if you dont hear back within 3-5 days. also educate yourself about GC requirements, so you can push your own agenda if needed, dont just rely on lawyers to tell you what to do. It took 2 weeks for vialto to reach out to me since I spoke to TC because i kept following up with immigration team. and repayment agreement its a max of 10k that you need to pay if you leave the firm within 2 years of them applying for I-140.
I just started. Talked to TC saying I want to start, she said its not a problem and got a partner approval, which seemed more like a formality. I raised the immigration request through portal ( you find a libk on HQ under immigration), then immigration team reached to me, I signed repayment agreement and after that they sent email to vialto saying they can start my case. then vialto reached out to me asking for docs and questionnaire to assess my case. Now im waiting for their response. Its all kinda going slow, which I was anticipating .
