Best financial advice I can give is regardless of investment strategy, starve yourself of income by contributing as much to your 401k and stock options as possible. This will not only grow your future assets, but it will enforce fiscal discipline on you and you'll learn to live with less.
The Vanguard target retirement fund is a good starting place. Just find the year closest to your retirement and go with that one. It automatically adjusts the risk as you get closer to retirement. Also, make sure to buy employee stock if you don't need the money right away. The discount is worth it.
I'd suggest Reddit.com/personalfinance as the best starting point.
^to piggyback, make sure to account for a "graduated" retirement. You can pick multiple dated funds and adjust contribution percentages so that you can make a bulk of retirement when turning x age, and then get continuous bumps every five years. These percentages can be 90/10, but just something to keep in mind if you've never considered it as a possibilty
Gotta agree on the vanguard thing
Also get an IRA (I usually prefer Roth) and max it out every year. I also have money that automatically goes into my Vanguard account each paycheck just to have some investments that aren't tied up in retirement accounts
