Hey, I recently got two job offers. I know my end goal is more strategy focused role , maybe some quantitative aspects probably in real estate or tech. My first offer is in Deloitte GPS Advisory as an Analyst, total comp is 95k. My other offer is for BTS (boutique consulting firm) in strategy execution with total comp being from 88-93k. If I stay with BTS, I’ll save a lot of money longer term. Which would you recommend? Is boutique strategy a bad place to start compared to big 4 advisory?

2: PwC - post-merger integration, DDV team (essentially M&A Consulting) - bigger city, always been keen to move

Coming as a Senior in Audit, with recent FDD exposure (2 deals, obviously not much). I was looking for something more than just number crunching, wanting a mix of quant / quali / strategic work. M&A Advisory or a Corp Strategy role is where I'm looking to end up long term.

I have been working as a data scientist since 2018 & have been the bread winner. I have neither been under a proper mentor nor with a team of peers from my field to help me out. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients).
