Appreciate your suggestions/input.

Big 4 are the largest professional services companies in the world. What do you mean by services based company? Do you mean WITCH(Wipro, Indy, tcs, cts,HCl) body/sweat shops?
I am based in the US and the only companies outside of tech that have higher reputation than big4 are big investment banks (Goldman and Morgan Stanley), MBB (McKinsey, BCG, Bain), some T2 consulting firms (Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Alix, Alvarez & Marshal etc) Venture Capital firms and Hedge funds. You will get very solid exits from big 4 once you spend 2-3 years, and your compensation should close to double every 5 years.
I started as an entry level associate at EY in 2017 at $75k, but now after switching twice I am a manager at Deloitte at $215k base and $41k bonus. And I am leaving for Director level role at Western Union next month at $375k TC($260k base, 40k bonus and $75k a year in stock).
What you are sharing is your experience from US. Our counterparts from US were also respected and the manager was always trying to please them. However, people at our end were overloaded, never get proper project, proper help.

Let me make it very clear to you....
Who priorities big 4??
The one who only dies working for a brand name....
Now tell me, just go to South Bombay or South Delhi or even in Chennai , Kerala ....do people who have lots of money give a F about Big4 ??
At the end it's about money....
Do you think if you're working in Big4 so the doctor will not charge fees ?? Or will the vegetable seller offer free vegetables to you??
Or when you die they'll honour you with the Indian flag because you were working for Big4 ??
Honestly , some people are stupid and just they behave arrogantly to prove to other people that the decision they took to work for Big4 was right....nothing else.
I agree to what you are saying but everyone needs money to live a better life. The gentleman from US shared his journey above and its totally relevant as big 4 gave him significant growth. Its easy to say no one cares but you are in a competition with every other person it's a rat race .Nothing wrong in that as well if the competition is fair .I just feel sad when I hear people made to slog 12-14 hrs a day ,the toxic work culture and unrealistic deadlines especially the ones who are at lower level in their carrer and the work taking a toll on their overall well being .
Just a personal opinion on joining big4 or services company...
I joined Deloitte few years back because I wanted money and brand name which Deliotte offered me. After marriage I feel I am not able to give time to family and always soaked in work.
Alway feel that the next phase of the project will be provide better WLB but no...
You only have to work that too minimum 11 hrs and if you complain about time lines and work load we hear no positive words from managers or Sr managers.
They say adjust accordingly.
And today if I get chance, I will move to Product base any time.
I have Total 10 yrs of experience and I SAP consulting.
So i will suggest, your decision should depends upon your needs at this point in time and next 2 3 yrs plan.
Yes
Youshould look for implementation project
I would suggest working for Big 4 once in your life that too preferably in the initial years of career because during initial years we are more energised and don’t have much family time expectations.
I spent first three years at Deloitte and would not regret working with it. But if you ask now I wont consider Big 4 once again because I value my time more now and also have hobbies to develop.
My mental and physical health increased tremendously after leaving deloitte.
For Indian markets my personal opinion is, if you want to join Big 4 then join the support firms like EY GDS, DUSI, KPMG KGS or PWC SDC. Don't join the India member firms like D India and all. There are 4 advantages of doing that..1. You get a brand of big 4 in ur CV. 2. You don't have to deal with Indian clients. Indian clients are stupid people who just know how to suck the blood out of you. 3. You get much better WLB/ hikes/ bonus in support firms than the India member firms..because the project budget is in dollars. The overall margin is much higher than the Indian project. 4. Also the Clint facing (the main blood sucking part) the US/Uk counterparts largely take care of due to the time zone differences.
@Deloitte1 Congratulations on your new role and your journey is really amazing .
My question is specific to Indian market where people are made to work like robots for US clients or US unit of any Big 4 and the onshore opportunities are very less in Big 4 as compared to service based organization. I agree hike and exposure they get is way more than any service based organization . Also , I am talking about Tech Consulting and not tax , audit or assurance as most of the people coming from service based would be from tech background .
I have offers from all Big 4’s and i will be rejecting all of them
I think a lot of things are said in the context of the US market, where it’s a big deal
But honestly in India, the only thing that matters is what is your current CTC is which helps you leverage and get an increase over it
I understand if it makes sense for people who are in Audit, tax etc but for tech the pool of companies is just too large and pays better elsewhere
P.S : i am not going to drink the corporate Koolaid that big 4 is something else, especially when it comes to India
If you really want a brand get FAANG/MAANG whatever in your resume (for tech)

Bhai big 4. bc yaha logo mei attitude hi bahut hota hai.

Big4 is not for everyone, not for the ones looking for WLB. The exit options are pretty decent. Its a choice between WLB or More Growth. It’s completely fine to not be part of the rat race
If you want peaceful life then don’t choose a big4. Salary only matters if you are desperately willing to earn money and ready to work more then 8 hours a day. You will regret after certain years. Though big4 is great for professional growth but by sacrificing your life.
Personal opinion don't join big 4 if WLB is your aim. Sharing my thoughts as I have worked in 2 big4s
