How do I politely decline a job offer without burning a bridge?

I got selected in Infosys and offer was about to get release today but at last minute suddenly today infy HR told I was interviewed 5 months 20 days before in infosys so they cannot proceed now as 6 months cool off period. How do people in the IA profession motivate themselves? Personally, I love the fact that we are exposed to different business processes (rather than a specific number or subject matter), also I actually like the fact we are a bit more creative than the typical “in our less than humble opinion we think this number is not too incorrect” approach adopted by our external counterparts.

Would you leave external audit for internal audit even if there is no base increased, just sign on bonus? Been having an awful year round busy season and I’m just done. I have heard from multiple sources that WLB is better.
