Hi all. Recently left big 4 for industry and I feel that this isn’t for me. Since joining, the company has had bad earnings and the the team has had so much turnover that nobody knows what they’re doing and are scrambling to figure it out. This has led to crazy hours for everyone and extremely stressful environment. When leaving big 4 I assumed I would have wlb but it’s been the complete opposite. I’m only a few months in, would it be a bad look to let them know that this isn’t for me?

Thoughts on accepting an offer at another consulting company with a pay and benefits cut? New company is a smaller firm, so there is potential for a better WLB. Same location

Hi guys, I got a feeling that big 4 or T2 companies kinda quiet in jakarta as opposed to MBB where they conduct lots of recruiting events (management consulting). Any reason for that particularly or maybe big 4 prefer internal hiring only?

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

For those that have big 4 and MM FDD experience, what’s the difference in hours? Did you like one more than the other? Salary range for seniors?

Anyone have slow months where you burn through a lot of your allotted pro bono/professional development hours to keep hitting minimum daily hours? The past few weeks have been like this for me. Should I be concerned (I.e., will this reflect poorly on me, come review time? Will I have dug myself too much of a hole if I keep burning my non-billable hours?) I’ve been asking partners if I can assist in any projects so I can fill my plate, but I’ve only gotten small (4-6 hour) tasks handed my way.

I think I may have made a huge mistake today. My skip level director sent out an email about something and asked us for feedback. I sent back a note and provided some. One of the things I said was that our job satisfaction might be improved if we could do more of X kind of work instead of Y kind of work that we do so much of in our group. One of my best friends growing up just passed away. We lost contact with each other a year or two after graduating high school and I recently came to learn he was was battling cancer the past 5 years and ultimately succumbed to the illness. He hid it well from everyone and led a very private life during it all. To make matters worse, he had just turned 25. Seeing pictures of the condition he was in towards the end of his fight broke my heart. I wish I had known so I could’ve been there for him.
