Hi, I'm leaving Citi in 2 months. It's hard to make this decision. I have an offer from a small startup. In citi, my previous experience was not considered and was reskilled to different tech which is the reason for change.I don't like to exit citi. As I like the company so much. But considering my current knowledge,I am in the middle of the sea.I am afraid now that the new company's offer would be revoked due to this recession?Or can I take back my resignation in citi before the last working day.Is this wise decision?

Agreed, MBB is worth less and less each passing day. We basically just signed our death warrant to be OpenAI’s glorified distribution and implementation channel.
Moving? We moved on from “strategy” 10+ years ago. Gotta keep revenue growing, so we all moved downmarket at the expense of margin.
Strategy& corp tech strategy practice is doing pretty well rn and pay is on par with MBB. I would advise that over IBM for sure
I'm not a senior peer in consulting although take my advice where it's worth.
EY isn't MBB but tech/AI is absolutely the future. Hopping one tier up in consulting is not the same as jumping into a pure tech/AI play. If the opportunity presents itself, take it with no reservations. AI is the future.
No all good, grateful for advice from anyone! Thank you and I do agree
No reason to hold out for MBB.
The work now leans to implementation or understaffed strategy retreads. The network is largely worthless (Mckinsey aside) and the exits are less impressive by the day.
Go build some real skills on the client side. You can always hop back to consulting if you feel the itch to build more empty PowerPoints.

I am an AI Strategy partner/principal. I would not trust IBM for AI strategy as their CEO and leaders went all in for quantum computing and have not done anything in AI. I have not seen IBM compete in any of the large companies over the past year.
Would advise against IBM - have a close friend there who has shared that its leadership doesn't really have a plan for AI - which is largely being shaped by Anthropic and Google. IBM was an early mover in the space with Watson, which was quickly surpassed by OpenAI/Gemini. Will be important to align your career with an "AI winner" and I don't think IBM (or MBB) will be one of those
