Hi everyone! I am a postdoctoral fellow in the field of genetics. This is my first postdoc (got my PhD in 2022) and I am starting my second year. My background includes molecular and cell biology, and physiology. I am interested to learn what kind of job opportunities are out there in the pharma/biotech industry and what king of qualifications (publications? leadership? etc) are they looking for in addition to specific techniques required by the jobs. Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

Just found out that end of the year I will be promoted from analyst directly to VP and since it’s such a large jump I’ll be the lowest paid VP in asset management at only $135k TC. Should I stay it out and wait for TC to align or take the promotion and jump ship bc I will likely get paid more elsewhere given how recruiters/other companies eat up hiring recently promoted ppl from other firms?

What can I do outside the office to boost my resume and be a substantially more attractive candidate for top consulting firms in ~12 months time. Working in disputes and valuation role but want to go into management consulting next year (post MBA role). I feel like my job isn’t enough because skills aren’t considered as transferable outside this field.

I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?
